Lent & Holy Week 2017

Weekday Masses — Daily mass is celebrated at 7:00 am and at 12:00 noon in the San Luis Chapel.

Stations of the Cross:  Every Friday during Lent

  • 5:00 pm at the Sangre de Cristo Church in San Luis.
  • 6:30 pm at the Holy Family Church in Fort Garland.  (Free soup dinner following the station.)

Holy Week (all events in San Luis unless otherwise specified)

  • Holy Thursday (April 13):  7:00 PM Mass of the Lord’s Supper in San Luis
    • Washing of feet, institution of the Holy Priesthood and the Holy Eucharist
  • Good Friday (April 14)
    • 10:00 am – Walk from Chama to San Luis
    • 1:00 pm – Divine mercy Novena and Meditation on the Seven last Words of Christ
    • 3:00 pm – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion
  • Holy Saturday (April 15):  8:00 pm Easter Vigil Mass

Parish Lenten Retreat

Our Lenten retreat will focus on the lives and teachings of Spanish Mystics including St. Peter of Alcantara, St. John of Avila and Blessed Maria of Agreda.  Please join our retreat from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20 at 6:00 p.m. in San Luis.

HOLY THURSDAY, March 28

    Washing of the feet (Confirmation & RCIA students will participate), Introduction of the Eucharist Tridium of our Lord:  His Passion, Death & Resurrection
  • Procession from Chapel to Church and begin
  • 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM — Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
    The Sociedad del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús will begin the vigil, Knights of Columbus, Penitents, Carmelitas, Teatinas, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Mayordomos and others interested persons can also participate.

GOOD FRIDAY, March 29

  • 10:00 AM — Piligramage Walk from Chama Church to San Luis
    Procession is single file beginning with thirty minutes of prayer and song followed by thirty minutes of silence.
  • Rosario del Pésame a Maria Santisima following Pilgrimage Walk
  • 3:00 PM — Adoration of the Cross at Sangre de Cristo Church.

HOLY SATURDAY, March 30

  • 6:00 PM — PASSION PLAY – Sangre de Cristo Church
  • 8:00 PM — EASTER VIGIL MASS with the Blessing of Fire

EASTER SUNDAY, March 31

  • 7:00 AM Sunrise Service – Sangre de Cristo Church, San Luis
  • 8:45 AM – Mass – Holy Family Church, Fort Garland
  • 10:30 AM – Mass – Sangre de Cristo Church, San Luis
  • Easter Egg Hunt after the 8:45 and 10:30 Masses sponsored Knights of Columbus
